If the storm happens when you don’t expect it, there are special pumps that can regulate the pool water level for you.
Automatic Pool Covers

When unprotected, your pool can fall victim to crashing lawn chairs and large outdoor furniture. A great way to protect it when you aren’t expecting a storm is to invest in an automatic pool cover. Focus on Cleaning

Use algaecide before a storm to control some of the impurities. However, after the storm, you should be cleaning your pool with all the regular steps. Adjusting your water quality is also very important. In most cases, a pool cover will prevent flooding, but could increase the level of impurities from slight runoff.
