Myth #2: They’re infested with wildlife.
You would think that a pool, especially one without chemicals, would be constantly ravaged by mosquitoes. The opposite is true. The plant side of the pool is going to house all of the wildlife that you might expect, like frogs or insects, because they have no need to travel into open waters. But also, with a simple bubbler, you can keep the water moving so it doesn’t get stagnant and become a mosquito breeding ground. Plus, integrating your pool with the surrounding landscape makes it easier for larger wildlife (snakes, turtles, the works) to get out on their own so you don’t waste time scooping them out.
Myth #3: You need to live somewhere where it never freezes.
Natural pools work just like any other natural body of water–they can freeze over, the plants can die for the season, and everything will thaw and come back to life when Spring arrives. There’s no issue if you live somewhere cold. During chilly months when you don’t want to swim, it’s always nice to have a body of water to compliment your landscape. A natural pool fits into your surroundings way better than a chemically treated one.
