Shocking your pool with chlorine is the best way to get rid of algae. It uses harsh chemicals, so you need to look at the label on your shock treatment product. This will help you determine how much action needs to be taken related to the severity of your problem. Shocking can be done repeatedly, but should still be done with caution.
Aftercare
From this point forward, you should be treating your pool’s water with an algaecide to prevent further algae blooms. You also need to regularly scrub the sides of your pool, to ensure no algae has a chance to grow. Remember; half the battle is fighting the algae from showing up in the first place!
