What Additions Might You Want For Your Pool?

Pool
These great pool additions can help you get more out of your investment.

So you’ve decided to ‘take the plunge’ and add a beautiful swimming pool to your backyard oasis. This is a great investment, since it can be a source of comfort, relaxation, and even better health. But as you’re planning this addition, it might be good to take a look at the fun and functional pool additions that are trending this year. Including one in your design might be just what you need to take your relaxing pool retreat from nice to amazing.

Fire Bowls

Fire bowls are an impressive and amazing addition to most pools. Many people opt to add a fire bowl to the seating areas around the pool, but they can also be integrated into the pool itself to stunning effect. Doing this requires quite a bit of planning, so if you are considering it, you should talk to your pool builder early. It can also be an expensive project, often costing between $6000-$9000 more than the pool.

Heat/Cool Pumps

Heat pumps have long been a popular addition to pools because being able to raise the water temperature also means that you are able to get more use out of your pool. Heat/Cool pumps offer the traditional heating element, but can also cool the water when it gets too hot. If your pool is going to be in direct sunlight for the majority of the day or it has an automatic cover, this may be a great addition for you. Even if you don’t think you would get much use out of the cooling function, you should check the cost difference if you’re already considering a standard heat pump.

Glass Tile For The Tile Line

Many pools get a tile band that goes along the waterline of the pool. This band is designed to keep the surface of the water from staining the pool surface in concrete pools. In fiberglass pools, the tile band is still often included, though only for aesthetic purposes. The trend for this design feature is the use of glass tiles. These tiles are small squares of colored glass, and the translucence and color makes the tile band really stunning.

Tanning Ledges

Tanning ledges are also often called Baja Shelves, and they are additions to pools that are less than a foot deep. In many pools, these tanning ledges also feature chaise lounges, and they make a great area for playing with smaller children who can’t be in deep water for long periods.
